Occupations

1. Reading comprehension: read different ads and match them with a suitable person.

4. Talking about occupations:
You are now going to interview a grown up. It can be a relative or someone else you know. 


Here are questions that you are going to use:

  1. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
  2. At what age did you begin to work? What sort of work was it?
  3. What sort of job do you have today?
  4. What is a typical day at your current job like?
  5. What time do your start and finish work?
  6. Do you ever work overtime?
  7. If so, do you get paid more for overtime work?
  8. Do you like your job? Why or why not?
  9. Do you think it is more important to make a lot of money or to enjoy your job?
  10. Do you work on weekends?
  11. How long have you been working at your present job?
  12. Why did you choose your job?
  13. How long do you plan to continue working where you are?
  14. At what age would you like to retire?
  15. What do you think you will do after you retire?
  16. If money weren't a problem for you what sort of work would you like do have?

5. Write:
Write a text about:

If you could own your own business, what would it be?
Name three occupations that you could do.
Name three occupations that you could never do?
What does your father do?
What does your mother do?
What would be your dream job?
Do you think it would be possible for you to get this job?
 

Present it to a group in your class!
